Answer» I have a computer with two operating systems installed, Microsoft 2000 Professional and WINDOWS XP. Is there a way to delete Windows 2000 Professional without FORMATTING my HARD drive so I can keep Windows XP?Can you access files in the Win2k partition from XP? If so all you have to do is find the file boot.ini ( on your boot drive i.e. C: ) Right click and select properties. Uncheck the Read-only checkmark in Attributes. Edit the boot.ini file in Notepad and remove the reference to Win2k. Make sure "default=" points to XP Save the boot.ini file
[boot loader] timeout=10 default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINXP
[operating systems] multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINXP="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINNT="Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional" /fastdetect
Delete the WINNT folder from the Win2k partition to reclaim about 600 MB on your hard drive.
