Solve : Music Distorts And Skips When Playing Games?

Answer»

Hi, I recently purchased a ASUS P5B-VM SE motherboard and a new processor from Intel for a better gaming performance. But, I like to listen to music when I'm playing games. I've noticed, though, when I have any music program open in the background and my game lags or I'm on a loading screen (the game is World of Warcraft, by the way, if that matters) the sound will distort and skip and be very terrible. This did not happen with my old motherboard and processor. I've tried updating my sound drivers, nothing. Can anyone help?Processor RAM and HDD info please...Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E7200 @ 2.53GHz (2 CPUs)

2 gigs of ram

Thats what it says on DxDiag anyway...

HDD: Where do I find this? The HDD info can be found in Control Panel/System/Hardware/Device Manager...
But it LOOKS as you should have enough horsepower initially to do this.
How old is the DVD drive ?
How many other APPS are running in the system tray when this happens ? ?

P.S. What music program ? ?The DVD drive is about 1 or 2 years old. All that's running in the system tray is spybot.

Any program acts this way, WINAMP, Windows Media Player, and iTunes are what Ive tried.Do you have TeaTimer activated in Spybot ? ?
If so turn it off, re-boot and try it now.Did not fix the problem, unfortunately. =\

It's slightly less distorted now, but still distorted.Turn Spybot off all the way...
Also check for any programs that may be doing AUTOMATIC updates...printers; XP; A/V programs etc.
