Solve : My beloved keyboard?

Answer»

I found a lovely old NMB keyboard RT6856TW. (Don't like the little black one I got with my new Dell computer). BUT, it is made with a PS-2, so I bought a converter that has one end that plugs into the computer on a USB connection, and the other end branches in two to connect the keyboard and mouse. I have no need for a PS-2 mouse so I don't connect that in, at first the light came on on the keyboard, but it won't type. The light doesn't stay on either, but even with it on it still will not type. Is there something I can download that will make this great keyboard work? Thanks every so much.
JANWith your old keyboard connected, GO into BIOS and be sure USB Keyboard Support is Enabled. Not a good idea to use an e-mail addy as a User name...

He or she is probably USED to it by now...

Yeah, looks like beautiful work. Counterproductive, though, to have a Contact form to fill out while simultaneously displaying the email address.I just bought one of those converters for a computer and it had the same problem. The num LOCK turns on, and if I am lucky I can enter the BIOS, but it just dosen't work. Then I found out the ps/2 PORTS actually did work... A waste of $8.That's an interesting point. I am using a PS/2 to USB converter for a mouse with no problem. Maybe they aren't intended to use with a keyboard....Quote from: jkolak on January 17, 2010, 12:24:00 PM

I have used ten of them things and they did not fail. But maybe you got the wrong make or model.he probably plugged it into the wrong Y connector.Ah! I didn't think of that. Mine has just one PS/2 jack.Nope, I plugged it in right. I even tried reversing them too
