Answer» I am using windows 2000 and IE 6. When I click on the My Computer icon, it takes forever to open so that I can click on my G: drive or some of the OTHERS. Often is freezes. Why is this happening. Please, post some computer info: - processor type, amount of RAM (hold Windows LOGO KEY, hit Pause/Break key) - hard drive size/free space (open "My Computer", right click on hard drive letter, click "Properties")Windows 2000 5.00.2195 Service Pack 4 AMD Athlon (tm) Processor AT/At Compatible 261.613 KB Ram 55.8 GB
My computer is 3 years old. I plan on buying a new one in the next few months.Do the standard maintenence: Disk clean Defrag Check how much free space Run your protection scans. Poat back with the results...I did all the standard maintence. I use SpeedupMyPC (don't know if it is any good or not), deleted temp files, disk frag, I use Trend Pc-cillon for my virus protection and ran that. It showed no problems.
My computer:
Windows 2000 5.00.2195 Service Pack 4 AMD Athlon (tm) Processor AT/AT Compatible 261.613 KB ram
55.8 GB 39.8 USED, 15.9 remaining
I probably do not have enough ram and am running out of memory, but I do not want to upgrade this computer as I will buy a new one in the next couple of months.Quote I use SpeedupMyPC This may very well be the issue here...
With the price of RAM right now it would be wise to add some even if it's just to get you to Spring...
