Solve : My computer will not let me delete any files??

Answer»

Anytime I try to send files to the recycling bin, an error message pops up that says this:

An unexpected error is preventing the operation. Make a note of this error code, which might be useful if you get additional help to resolve this problem:

Error 0x80070570: The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable.

I tried deleting the files in Safemode, but the same error message popped up. All files on the computer, at least the ones that I have tried, will not DELETE. Pictures, VIDEOS, Word Documents, Programs and Files, etc. Only one program deleted. The others will not. I need this problem resolved because my hard drive is almost full. The only way I can delete files is if I go to youtube, click upload video, click browse, go to my videos, and right click and delete. It's very strange. But doing it on youtube is tedious, and I can only delete each individual file on at a time. Have you checked your drives for ERRORS, and RUN a virus check? No, I have not.
the only thing I have done is restart the computer, do startup repair. That had no effect. I also tried deleting it in safe mode, this did not work. I also get a message that says
"The file or directory C:\$Secure is corrupt and unreadable. Please run chkdsk utility"
when I shut my computer down. I suspect the two are related, I have gotten this error message before.
I am not sure how to do what you suggest.Try slecting the file and PRESS shift+delete.
Do you have any virus protection?
Did you run chkdisk?OH MY GOSH YOU ARE A FREAKING LIFE SAVER.

the shift delete worked on videos and pics, however it does not work on programs and files.

i am not sure how to run a check disk.If you want to delete programs go into Control Panel and select Add/Remove programs.

Try doing this: Click start then select My Computer. Right click on your C drive and select Properties. You should now be at this screen:

Now Select Disk Cleanup and let it clean up all of the unnecessary files on your computer. Once you have done that, Click the Tools tab near the top of the properties window. You should now see this screen:

Here, choose Defragment now. This will open the disk defragmenter. Click on Analyze. If your computer needs defragged you will see a message that says you need to defragment. If so, choose defragment now. This may take some time. Just be patient. Now go back here

and select Check Now. This will schedule chkdisk to run at the next restart. Go ahead and restart and see if it finds anything.
