Solve : My computer wont work!?

Answer»

So yesterday i stood up from my laptop and it FELL off the counter after i stood up. i picked it back up and it started freezing everyfew seconds, so i closed out of what i was doing and gave it a sec to see if it would get better. it continued to freeze every few seconds so i hit control-alt-delete so that i could restart my computer and my SCREEN went blue and it said it was crash dumping all physical data, it finished doing this before i even had a chance to stop it and after this happened, my computer restarted and it got to the point where it is about to start up and it said A Disk Read Error Occured  Press Control-Alt-Delete to restart. It has done this ever since and everytime i hit control-alt-delete to restart, it tries to restart and just ends up GOING back to the same page.......what should i do?! My computer is a brand new Sony VAIO and it runs on Windows VISTA......What happens if you get into safe mode?

If you can get into Safe Mode, click on the Start button and type in CMD and press enter. Type in chkdsk /f and if prompted to ask to reboot, press Y. What does ChkDsk report?

Also, have you install the SP1 update recently?

I don't really have much experience with Vista, so I might have to throw in the towel to someone else.

EDIT: Vista users, be aware that SP1 is still in BETA and still unstable.i cant even get into safe mode. everytime i turn on my computer, that same message pops up and i cant go any further.......Physical damage is hard to diagnose without seeing the machine.
Since it's brand new i'd be taking advantage of the warranty...

i will try and do that. i will have to get a hold of my grandparents though because they are the ones that bought the computer for me. it just sucks because i need it up and running ASAP CAUSE ima college student and i need it for my work...... i took off the bottom part of my computer but i didnt see any physical damage to any of the parts....idk it that helps at all though since im not a computer tech personi called the sony tech people and they said that my computer isnt recognizing my hard drive so now they r sending a tech guy to come fix it.....anyone know how i can save myself the money and fix it myself? I wouldn't suggest it...this will VOID the warranty.
And if it turns out this is not the problem then you're stuck.
