Hi,

I just purchased a second hand PAVILION DV7-2100sa from a friend and he said it wasn't TURNING on. I thought I'd give it a shot.

So I PLUG in the AC adapter and the power light on the side comes on. Also the "Charging Battery" light on the front flashes then goes off.

When I press the power button, the power light on the front flashes once, briefly, then goes off. That's it.

I've tried a hard reset but that didn't CHANGE anything.

All help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you  Hard to say.  One guess is a bad AC adapter.  Another guess: the battery might be bad; many laptops will run without the battery.  Have you tried that?  Otherwise, I'm afraid you may have a faulty motherboard.

When you try to start it, can you hear any sound at all from it if you put your ear very close to it?  Any clicking sound or any sound at all? CHEERS soybean,

I've tried it with another AC adapter and tried it without the battery and it didn't change.

And no there's no sound whatsoever from it. None at all. Just light on...light off. That's it.
