Solve : my settings wont load anything? |
|
Answer» can you help?? my computer wont load anything up in my settings which is set as the adminstrator. my partners settings work and hes a limited account user. my programmes wont load. so i cant go to user account or to system restore or try to amend this problem in my settings and cant in my partners as hes limited. i cant connect to the internet to download repair software and i eventually manage to run a VIRUS scan but it came back fine. the programmes appear to be there but the icons are just small white boxs {sorry-their hard to describe} and when you click on any of them it say programme not responding??? has anyone got any ideas before my expensive p.c ends up as accidently stamped on? What happened prior to this? Obviously something has changed. ive tried but i have to go into my settings to do that and it wont let me.Do you mean you can't logon to your administrative account now? I get the impression you need to use a password on your administrative account and don't tell your partner the password. And, keep your partner on a limited user account. But, I can't tell you how to handle the personal issues here and get this situation corrected.ill be kicking him out at this rate when i go on to my settings nothing will load up, i can click on to anything but it just COMES up programme not responding. its as if all the files are there but theres nothing in them. i cannot log on to control panel, user accounts, system restore or anything to correct this error. yet his seems to work fine?? I know its genuine windows xp. would it be easier to re-install xp and start from scratch. the only THING is as you can probabily tell i havent a clue about computers. If you remember your password why not re-boot into safemode by tappingF8 while the machine is starting up... Once there go to Control Panel/Administrative Tools and reset your account from there ... BTW if he is on a limited user account there are no changes he could have made to create this scenario...he would have to have the password. So once you go through the steps above and boot normally to make sure your account is working i would repeat the above process and go to your now working account and create a new password just to be on the safe side.thankyou i'll try that and let you know i would like to say many thanks to patio for the great advice regarding my problem as it has worked and my computer has returned to normal. so theres a solution for anybody else out there with a similar problem i had. after three long weeks of computer stress i'm free. thanks again patio you've made my day!
