Answer» Hi Everyone...
Running XP Home Edition SP2.
I have just rebooted my computer and found out, all my settings and documents are gone.
I have not modified anything recently. Haven't being "tweaking" anything. Recently did a virus and spyware scan. Logged on with the same account.
For no reason at all, my documents are gone and my settings have being discarded.
Recently installed the "Royale Remixed" theme, which isn't malware.
This is the second time this has HAPPENED. Anyone know how to prevent this from happening again?
Thanx. Yikes!
I just found out my documents are located at:
C:\Documents and Settings\TEMP
Doesn't sound good. Need help fast! MEANWHILE, I'll try to copy my account profile...C:\Documents and Settings\ should only list 4 folders:
1. Administrator 2. Your user folder 3. All Users 4. Default User (hidden)
There may be ADDITIONAL named folders if you have more than one user account registered with Windows.
As to what that TEMP folder is, I've never seen one located there before. FIRST thing, copy that folder and put it somewhere safe with a new name. TEMP folders can't be trusted and that could get deleted automatically. I'm gonna dig around and see if I can find more information on any situations like this.Thank you Quaxo.
I created a new user account and recovered my documents from the TEMP folder. Everything is working.
Again, thank you.Oh good, glad you got that sorted out.
