Solve : My system won't come out of sleep mode?

Answer»

I have Vista INSTALLED. When I first turn it on, it flickers. I have had to PUT it into sleep mode for a minute and then bring it out. When I do that it comes back and it doesn’t flicker. Lately I have been having trouble getting it out of sleep mode. Now when I turn on the computer the power light comes on and the hard disk works but I GET nothing on my screen. The keyboard does not light up and my mouse does not light up.

Ive pushed the power button like you're suppose to. I’ve turned it off and waited and then turned it on several times and it still doesn’t work. I have unplugged it from the back and waited and then plugged it back in and it still doesn’t work.

I’m in a quandary.

Just an idea, BIOS power settings or something? I have an S1+S3 setting or something and I think that is sleep related?

Wait for an expert! Thanks for the help.
part of the problem is that I have no signal to my monitor. therefore I can't work with the bios.

Graig :>)Sometimes Windows will not respond to mouse or power button movement while in sleep mode

Or, when you move the mouse, the computer starts, but the monitor stays off, as is happening in your issue

Try pressing a key that will not do anything on your keyboard, like the Up-Arrow key, or ALT or CTRL

Also, what ANTIVIRUS protection do you have?

To me that definitely sounds BIOS / MB related, especially seeing as you have power cycled the system. As a last resort, if your problem is not resolved you could always try clearing the CMOS by removing it's battery. Though unfortunately, I don't really know if that will do anything.Hi Rant,

thanks for the help. I did as you instructed. Still nothing from my keyboard or mouse. The monitor is still not getting a signal.

I am using Trend Micro Internet SECURITY 2007

My power button was blinking in sleep mode. Now it is not. Quote from: graighope on June 28, 2007, 12:27:19 AM

I'd be more concerned about this, as it sounds like the root of the problem.
Is your monitor firmly connected?
Can you try another monitor? If so, does this still happen?
How old is this computer? Is it still under warranty?Quote from: graighope on June 28, 2007, 12:52:16 AM

No problem, dont worry about it

Flickering in the monitor could be the result of a resolution change during the startup
