Solve : Mysterious Problem? |

Answer» This morning as I woke up I heard an odd CHUGGING sound coming from my family computer. The power light blinks, all the power cords are correctly plugged in. The computer will not turn on at all or off. In order for the chugging NOISE and the light to stop blinking I must un-plug the computer itself. Please help is needed immediately. The monitor and all other devices plugged into the power strip work though so I've concluded it is not because of the power strip or outlet. Was the computer left on or turned off the night before? Did a service interruption from your electrical supplier occur during the night? Thunderstorm overnight? Is that "power strip" supposed to be a surge protector? How old is it? How much did it cost? Have you recently noticed any signs whatsoever of ABNORMAL noise or operational problems with your computer?Does holding the power button in for five seconds turn the PC off?No the computer was not left on last night, nor have we had incliment weather or electrical service problems. I have tried holding the power button and it has no response. It is not a surge protector it is just a plain power strip. I don't primarily USE the computer but my family members do, they have not noticed any problems or abnormal sounds from it. The PC does not even turn on, it just MAKES the chugging noise and the power button flashes. I have never had trouble with the computer in the past nor has anyone who uses it.J0sh...... The odd noises ....... you need to determine where they are coming from ...... A hard drive , when failing , will often make a clunking or chugging noise........ or it may be coming from the fan .... ( possibly a bearing failing) but thats more of a whine ....... |
