Answer» ok well since yesterday morning i can no LONGER launch my windows media player without instantly getting the BSOD. its the DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL error.now i have trawled the net and have so far established i have no new hardware or software installed recently which coul ???da messed it up so that eliminates that 1.i have also performed the full DSKCHECK nothing wrong there a RAM diagnostic again no errors.checked with speedfan my temperatures are fine not overheating.its got me at a loss because if i click a music file singerly it will play it in windows media player its just if i go to the main library its BSOD.i really need this fixed its xmas tmmrw and this is my only source of music (i have about 50,000 tracks) i really need this working for tmmrw.just need 1 cleverclogs who can tell me what i need to do.i will include a brief summary of my machine if that makes any difference im unsure never used a computer forum before

Did you recently install or update your anti virus app (Avast or AVIRA)?well when it first happened my antivirus (microsoft security essentials) needed updating which i did but nothing has changed Try uninstalling MSE and see if you still get the same error. If you do, reinstall MSE. If not, try installing another AV. Either way, do not run without a resident av for longer than the test period.
