Well this certainly has spun out of control... All he needs to do is track down XP drivers for the laptop....format the drive...boot to the XP CD and install. Then re-boot and install the XP drivers.... Period.tbdI fixed the problem according to Geek-9pm help with Microsoft links. Boot the XP CD into the normal setup. When you get to the point where you select a partition, you must, repeat, must all existing partitions DELETE. Then create a new partition, do not try to reuse the old partition. Windows XP must do a complete initialization, partition creation, and format of the drive. The reason for this is explained in the Microsoft knowledge base. Now that is all I have to say about this, until NEXT time. Removing and re-creating existing partitions is an inherent FEATURE of every Win install CD/DVD since WinME... I don't get why that's hard to understand as it's part of what was suggested... |
