Solve : Need help with a mic.?

Answer»

Hey!

Long story short, I reformatted my computer sound didn't work(sound card was like 10 YEARS old.) So I bought a new sound card and I got my sound working just now, but my microphone doesn't work. Any ideas?Have you verified mic is not muted? When you installed the new sound card, did the driver/software you installed put a custom icon in your system tray for sound controls? If so, double click on it to open it and search for a setting to "Boost microphone" or something similar. I can't say for sure whether you have the feature but, if you do, you'll need to enable it before you get any sound.Quote from: soybean on February 20, 2008, 08:19:25 PM

Seems I have all boost microphone settings, etc. I tried some other microphones too, and it's not muted. Any other ideas?Quote

OHH, I thought you were TALKING about something different. How do I bring up that window to enable ''Boost?''Down in the bottom right corner, do you see the VOLUME control icon (a little speaker icon)?

Double click that & check/see if the microphone has been muted. You can also find the settings in Control Panel/Sounds and MULTIMEDIA as well.
