Solve : Need some help on windows 98 on an old vaio? |
Answer» HI I have a old sony vaio with windows 98 on it. everything works fine but the laptop can't detect my network card. I have a Xicom Realport Ethernet 10/100+modem 56 REM56G. It's old and out dated but I can't get a LAN connection. I formated a while ago wiht windows 2000 and that o/s detected the ethernet card and i was able to connect on line AUTOMATICALLY. But windows 2000 doesn't work that well on my laptop being on mmx technology, so I formated again with windows98. I don't KNOW how to get it to detect the card so i can get online....please help...ask some more questions of u need them to help me out...thanks....QuoteBut windows 2000 doesn't work that well on my laptop being on mmx technology, My processor supports MMX as well... That's not it, trust me. You need to obtain drivers from the manufacturer for your laptop model in your case Sony. There's no alternative unless you have a CD with Windows 98 drivers. I do have the drivers....i have the sony application recovery cd...but not sure if it has that xircom DRIVER i need....Quote from: laptophelp on May 02, 2007, 08:00:43 PM I do have the drivers....i have the sony application recovery cd...but not sure if it has that xircom driver i need....
