Solve : .NET Framework 4 Glitch. Please Help?

Answer»

I am using an Acer Apire One Zg5. I am running Windows XP Media Center Edition with Service Package 2. I could not seem to upgrade to Service Package 3. So the other day I tried to run a program and it gave me some error message that I needed .NET FRAMEWORK 4. So I downloaded it and the program that I needed to use worked fine. I later restarted my computer and all it showed was my computers background and a message that said "Setting up PERSONALIZED SETTINGS for: C:\directory\CyberGate\install\winlogin.exe." I can not seem to get around this. While pressing buttons on my KEYBOARD, I accidentally locked my trackpad, and I do not know how to unlock it.
brennan1654,
Apparently sou have have this laptop for some time. Did you ever make backups?

Be advised that all installations of .NET are for XP service pack 3, with few, if any, excretions. Service Pack 3 is required.

As to the problem at hand, try booting in safe mode and log in as the administrator. The password may be blank. If you can, try the system restore feature (rollback) of Windows XP.

As a almost last resort, get the XP install CD that came with the machine and see if it has the repair feature NORMALLY found on XP install disks.

If none of this works, don't give up. There are more options before doing a full install. Check back here.
