Solve : network cable unplugged problem?

Answer»

Hi I am having problems connecting 2 computers at home via crosover. It was working fine a couple of weeks ago when i had broadband connected on the host pc but i have just moved house and had to go back to dial up. The problem is the SECOND computer is always showing that the connection is unplugged. I can enable and disable the connection on the host computer but the connection FAILS when i try to enable on the second pc. Also the green lights on both network cards are not activating. I am using patch cable cat 5e to connect both pc's

Both computers are RUNNING windows xp home, and i am using a dynalink 56k modem. The network adapter is 10/100 pci realtek rtl8139.

Any HELP would be appreciated. Sorry for my lack of terminology as my Computer knowledge is lacking.
