Answer» Hey all, it's been awhile since I had my last problem, have since fixed my computer, had it up and running for a total of about a MONTH, and then just recently my internet has crapped out on me. A little background:
-Router has 1 wired connection (my MOTHER's computer) -Only computer that was actively using the router wirelessly was my computer -It's a linksys 801.11b router & PCI card
Now, my computer is perfectly able to connect to the router wirelessly; similarly, my mother's computer has no problems ACESSING the internet through the wired connection. However, my computer for some reason cannot obtain an IP. I've TRIED everything (including reformatting, and turning on & off firewalls on both computers). Soooo, now i'm just plain confuzzled. Any ideas out there folks? You are running DHCP?Yep. My crap is set to "automatically determine IP adress" and so on, cuz to be honest I'm a layman at networking. Is that computer named the same as another on the network? Did it ever work correctly? If not is this the first one you have set up?Aaaahhh, the beauties of static IP ADDRESSING. Is it a problem with the IP or is it an actual connectivity problem? The first warning of a lack of connectivity is often the network tray icon changing to "get IP mode".
