Answer» I did attempt to do a SEARCH, but the way I'm wording it is too broad, and I am not sure how to make is more succint. So here's my question:
I recently added a virus protection system. I am not sure if this happened right after that, or earlier. The PROBLEM is that if I am on a forum, (www.rcgroups.com for example), and there is a post with a youtube video, I used to be able to see it and click on it and watch it. Now, all I see is a blank box with a little square on the upper right hand side with a red square, green circle and blue diamond. Why is this happening?? Thank you
I would appreciate if anyone can guide me on how to fix this.
ThanksAdditional info.
On some forums there is in yellow writting, the name of the video, and if I click on it, it goes straight to youtube. Below this is the large blank square with the little square on the upper left hand with the square, circle and triangle.
I am running xp and internet explorer, I think the latest version.
Thanks again. Hi, Could you please check the version of your internet explorer.
by clicking on help (on the menu bar of the internet explorer) , then select about internet explorer. Internet explorer 7Same thing in Firefox? What AV program was installed?NOt sure what AV is there.
I did change to IE 8, but same thing, now the only difference is the little square with the square, circle and triangle has changed.
Anyone?AV = antivirus Same thing with Firefox?Could be a simple setting in IE7...
Go to Tools/Internet Options, Security tab, then click Custom level. You're going to need to scroll down a bit and find Display video and animation on a web page that does not use external media player. Is that setting enabled? If not...try enabling it.
Could also be a problem with your flash player plug-in.
Make sure you're running the latest version from Adobe: http://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/downloads.htmlWell, thanks for the suggestions.
I did both, installed the newest flashplayer, and enabled the thing you told me to enable.
No change.
Any ideas?
If it's really a Flash problem, uninstall it first then re-install. Known fault.A new anti-virus has been installed.
Its alleged purpose is to deal with some sort of malware.
If this unknown (to us) antivirus encounters something it does not like, it should respond somehow. Its response could be an ALERT and/or quarantine/cripple the suspect.
Perhaps it does not like Youtube videos, and either as a deliberate ploy to alert you, or an accidental side-effect of "sanitizing" the video, I quote :- "Now, all I see is a blank box with a little square on the upper right hand side with a red square, green circle and blue diamond."
I suggest contacting the antivirus company
Regards Alan Well, thank you for all the suggestions.
Unfortunately nothing was worked. I erased and redownloaded shockplayer and flash player, but neither reboot worked.
I've contacted AVAST, and that seems to be the last suggestion.
Any other thoughts??Did you use this tool to uninstall Flash: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html

Thank you very much. I did use that tool as you suggested, then reloaded them. When I went to check the forum I frequent, it gave me a prompt, and BOOM there it was.
Thanks again.You're very welcome
