Solve : Newbie with blue screen?

Answer»

I've read a bunch of different stories about how to solve the blue screen that reads {unmountable_boot_volume} I tried using the REINSTALLATION cd but I can't even get the pc to recognize it. I pit the cr in and kept TAPPING the r button and nothing. The computer was WORKING fine and all of a sudden this. I know it's not a virus because I don't have internet on it. Please help! I have over 2000 pictures on it.
Try putting the CD into the drive, then restarting your PC with the CD still in the drive.tried that about 5x and nothing.
Does this help HTTP://support.microsoft.com/kb/555302{If it's a BIOS settings problem then  load the 'Fail-Safe' default settings, and then reactivate the most frequently used options such as USB Support.}How do I load the fail-safe default settings? and know if I'm running a 40 or 80 cable?

At what point does the BSOD happen?
Same thing in Safe Mode?
