Solve : no bootable device + lost system restore disk?

Answer»

Howdy, first of all any help anyone can give me would be STELLAR. My PC has been shooting out a "no bootable device" error when I attempt to boot up. It asks for a boot disk but I don't have one. I can't locate my system restore disk at all and i'm not sure I ever received one. The OS is windows xp sp2.

thanksCan you get into the setup utility? If you can, does it recognize your HDD?I can get to the BIOS setup yes, and how can i tell that?
What is your first boot device? Are there any disks in your disk drives? When you go into the BIOS... you might want to SET your Bios back to its default...

or OPEN up your PC and check your cables and see if its connected right..... if you have another IDE or SATA cable, try it out and see if it works!

goodluck. spiderTry changing the primary boot device to ide 0 or ide 1
