Solve : No connection due to proxy settings?

Answer»

I have a real problem that I HOPE someone out there can help me with. I RECENTLY purchased a Compaq Presario widescreen laptop with Windows Vista Home Premium installed. All was working great until this morning. I turned on the computer and saw only a white screen with a little wheel turning round and round and the words "Detecting Proxy Settings." I cannot connect to read email or anything else. Any suggestions as to what this means? Earlier I was able to access my email page but couldn't get a connection. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

jandal   "Detecting Proxy Settings" error appears, when you try to open your email program, or...?
What email program? Does your ISP require proxies? You may need to turn off the Proxy Auto-Discovery FEATURE.
