|
Answer» I have win. xp-home..had to reinstall xp from restore disk..things have changed-ie6 will not load some pages I have always viewed like windows newsgroups, it loads the questions but cannot see answers no error MESSAGE a lot of pages load this WAY. Some sites load fine. Also in task manger it shows I have 0 cpu usage in any program no matter what I do, I do not get errors in event viewer- my start menu and connection FOLDERS constanly change And I get a lot of this: a program is trying to access internet explorer from your trusted site,,I never had this to happen. I uninstalled Nortons antivirus and internet security [it was out of date] I used thier tool remover..but in sec. center it shows I have nortons virus enabled. Any Hope?Sounds like you have a boat-load of problems that may take some time to correct. Quickest way to get back up and running would be a wipe and reinstall. Back up your stuff to another media first. How did you do this?I went to turn my computer on and it would not boot..called eMachine for help they said to use restore disk, but I noticed it seem to restore on drive D [it has a lot less space now] Anyway the disk RAN, said to restart computer and when it came back on ..lots of PROBLEMSI have an eMachine, and if i'm right isn't there an option to restore without formatting your hard drive? I've always wondered how that could possibly work without messing everything completely up... i.e. replacing updated files with older versions etc. You should run the restore again but this time choose the option to format your hard drive. -John Quote I went to turn my computer on and it would not boot..called eMachine for help they said to use restore disk, but I noticed it seem to restore on drive D [it has a lot less space now] Anyway the disk ran, said to restart computer and when it came back on ..lots of problems Sounds like you now have 2 installs of XP on that machine.... A full clean format and reinstall as has been suggested is the way to go... |
