Solve : No Display on windows boot?

Answer»

Hi ppl,
I have windows xp sp2 with a geforce4mx card. I had the latest drivers installed, but I couldn't play quake 3. so, i tried to install an older driver. The setup uninstalled my driver, but did not install a new one on restart (as it said it would). Since then, I have no display in windows. I have display in ubuntu, bios, the windows boot men, right till windows loads drivers, and then, the screen goes blank. I tried repairing my installation, but it was of no use. I had to repair without display too. Only command line can be seen in windows i.e. in "Safe mode with command line" and in the recovery console. I can log on and everything. I can hear the boot sounds, but I can't see a thing on screen. Please help.Repeatedly tap F8 while the machine is starting up and before you see the Windows splash screen...this will give you the safe mode choices.
Select safe mode w/networking and be patient...it sometimes takes awhile to load fully.
Once in you can then install your vid card drivers.
You should install the drivers that shipped with the card.
Remove any CD's and re-boot.No... it didn't work. I have no display in safe mode too. Which connector arew you using on the rear of the machine ? ?
Is there more than one ? ?The card has a TV out, if that's what you mean.
Do you know how I can add devices through recovery console? No which connector is the monitor hooked to ? ?

You can't.My monitor is hooked to to the output of the g-card and I have one of them each on my motherboard and my graphic card.Hook it up to the onboard video.
FOLLOW the instructions for booting into safe mode.
Once in travel to Control Panel, find the add on card and right click it and select remove/uninstall.
Travel to Add/Remove programs and remove any software installed with the new card.

Then follow the instructions in the READ Me file on the video cards installation CD and start again.

NOTE: You MAY have to physically remove the card but you shouldn't have to with most cards.

P.S. I repeat this quite often but it bears ANOTHER repeat:
New drivers are not always BETTER drivers.
If you are looking to boost gaming performance consider upgrading the card...
