Solve : No Format Options, XP Pro? |
|
Answer» I Booted from XP Pro CD to Format & did this. Boot to the CD, accept the license agreement and choose to install a fresh copy of windows. Now follow this order: I get no option to delete partitions & when this trouble started it also disabled my Laptop key pad & I can’t get that back because Control Panel, Printers & other Hardware, MOUSE where I could enable my key pad gives me the runtime error. That’s when I thought it’s time to do a simple Format, but not so simple.Quote from: street1 on December 21, 2008, 11:51:32 PM If you know how to write a bootable CD from an ISO. I downloaded a free program called Ultimate Boot CD but I’m using a Laptop with Vista right now & will check it out. Maybe with my XP Pro CD it will let me make an XP bootable CD in my Vista Laptop, because my XP Pro Laptop is dead.Quote from: mc1548 on December 22, 2008, 12:57:33 AM Quote from: JJ 3000 on December 21, 2008, 11:39:51 PMBoot to the CD, accept the license agreement and choose to install a fresh copy of windows. Now follow this order: What kind of laptop do you have? You might need special drivers that are loaded during Windows setup initialization (Press F6 when it asks you to). These can be obtained from the motherboard (or laptop) manufacturer's webpage. I went to ADD/Remove programs & removed some Game programs then had to do a Restart then lost the ADD/Remove programs option but now when booting from the XP CD I get the option to Delete partitions. I installed StartupMonitor & told her to always click NO unless it was something like Zone Alarm or Sygate. Removing those Nasty Games in Program Files did the trick & all seems well so far. Thanks for your help, I must have spent 10 hours with this problem & the fix seems to be removing those Nasty Games in Program Files. What’s the deal with Vista when it says, we are checking for a solution to the problem then spins its wheels for a min or 2 then eventually says, we will close the program? At first I thought neat then after about 50 of these finding nothing on my new Vista bought 11-21-08 it’s really become a pain in the *censored* pop up.Microsoft has been trying to automate stuff that is best done manually for a long time. In my eyes Vista is user friendliness gone HAL9000 What is WLC? I do know a media player called VLC. Did you try simply rebuilding your network and security? Reset everything to default and start from the ground up. You might need to connect to your router using a cable as not all of them are accessible by default with a wireless connection. My original install went easy but now it doesn’t recognize my key num for the 2nd PC. I’ll tell you it’s not easy in this computer world. I can build a house easier than getting around in my computer!!! Do it quick & dirty like you said & you didn’t know what a WLC was? Yea right!! Keep up the good tips & SHARE them with us beginners. Tomorrow I’ll try an uninstall from my WLC & a reinstall. Ok, let us know how it all goes. Quote from: Raptor on December 22, 2008, 09:37:50 AM Ok, let us know how it all goes. Will do, my GF won’t be nice to me till I get her internet working. These Filipina’s can be pushy, LOL. |
