Solve : No LAN/High-speed connections after reinstall of XP?

Answer»

Alright. I had vista on a storebought computer and had a multitude of problems so I went to the store and bought XP with sp3.

I got home and installed it, had some problems with the logininit but fixed that. Now I have everything LOADED and now I have no connections under the LAN/High-Speed section (well besides 1394 but thats firewire). I would appreciate some troubleshooting help

Thank you!You did not say what kind of computer.
If it is a laptop, you are in for a job.
Installing XP after Vista is not a good idea. You NEED to consult with the Manufacturer to see if the hardware supports XP. In fact, some of the makers have sent out XP machines with no install CD because they don't even have a simple install CD for XP. It was a custom load.
Here some would have told you to GET another hard drive, even a USED one, and try XP on it before you destroy the Vista.
And Vista, if used the right way, works good for many and fully supports the hardware.Have a look under Device Manager to see if your NIC card has been detected.

Start > Control Panel > System > Hardware > Device Manager

Under 'Network Adapters', do you see your NIC card there?
If so, is there a yellow '!' or red 'X' under it?

Make and model of computer would be good to know.
