Solve : No safemode options?

Answer»

Hi there

Tried to install a new graphics card recently, but got an .dll error message. I forgot to deinstall previous driver, so thought was deinstall current driver take out new card put in old card deinstall driver and new card in again.

But forgot to decrease resolution!!! Booted up as normal and all that COMES up on my screen is a message saying out of range!
No problem i thought, and tried to start in safe mode (F8 thing) but all that comes up is a selection where I want to boot from (floppy, dvd 1, dvd 2 or Hdd) and no matter what selection is it just starts up as normal and I still can't see a thing on my screen!!!
Any help anyone???
Windows XP MCEAs soon as you PRESS the Power Button, keep tapping F8.

If you get that hardware selection screen again, select HDD and press Enter.

As soon as you hit Enter, keep tapping F8 again.Did you try holding down the left shift key and F5? Sometimes that works when F8 doesn't.Yepp, F8 worked CHEERS Carbon, seems I was a bit to eager...

But now I tried to install new card (put card in and driver cd) and all I get is a black screen with error message "no Signal detected" on either ports - onboard VGA and Card.
What to do now?Not sure.....maybe it's because i'm tired (very late here), but I think it's gotta be related to your 'Out Of Range' problem.

Do you by any chance have another MONITOR you can try?I had a picture on low to medium resolution on onboard VGA after start in safemode...
but even that is GONE...
have a think about it and tell me if the solution comes to you over night All right, back on my feet.

You said you put a new video card in the machine?
What happens if you go into Safe Mode with the old video card?try safe mode with command prompt ...with F8 that should allow u to change the resolution and then move on with it /
