Solve : No sound in full screen mode?

Answer»

Hi,
I run old dos software under XP. I can change between a window and full screen mode. I have a sound card and this works in window mode. In full screen mode there is no sound (except the built in BEEP). Any ideas?

GeofflHi,
Can anyone help me with this problem?
GeofflWhich old DOS software ? ?Hi,
An old date BASE. One program is a cash register. On occasions you NEED to allert the operator so I can beep the terminal. The command I use in this language is " display '\007'; " . This old stuff runs under NTVDM. In full screen mode it BEEPS the speeker on the mother board.
If I hit Alt+enter the screen changes to a window. Now the beep comes from the sound card.
GeofflAm I posting his in the wrong forum?
GeofflNo...again which program ? ?An old data base program written in 1980I give up...someone else may be along to assist...

It's probably a limitation of the software itself...but since it's Top SECRET i'm outta ideas. No secret - It's called FMS80. I have never spoken to anyone who has  heard of it. I am guessing that anything this old would work the same. In window mode it uses the sound card. ALT+ENTER same program still running now in full screen it uses the beep on the mother board. Then it's gonna continue to function that way...it is what it is.Thanks for that. I know it is what it is. That is why I came here - I thought there may be someone a little smarter who could tell me why it is what it is.
