Answer» Ok, firstly, I dont know if this is a problem with Vista, the sound drivers on my computer or something else, so please bear with me. As of last night, I havent been able to get any sound to play through the inbuilt speakers on my LAPTOP (Its a Dell Studio 15, about seven months old). System sounds however, are playing. I checked on the volume control panel, and it says that the sound is being played on "INdependent (R.T.C) Headphones (IDT High Definition Audio CODEC)" however, I dont have any device like this, or any type of headphones attatched. How do I correct this, so that the sound PLAYS through my speakers, and not this other device? Thanks Was it working before? Thanks, its while using all the media players (Itunes, windows media player), the internet, etc... really its with everything other than system sounds, and the sounds of GAMES like solitaire. Was it working before? Is this while playing audio CDs on cd/dvd drive or on any media player(ex.winamp,win media player)with saved audio files(mp3,mp4) on your computer? Have you check your Device Manager for that matter?
Go to your Control Panel and click on Sounds and Audio Devices
Click Audio tab and under Sound playback, check on default device(?) click down arrow to know if there are other default device available aside from the ONE you mention. What did you check under device manager? Have you tried using external speakers?
Was it working before?
Did you look on Control Panel(1st post suggestion)?
