Solve : No sound on Windows 7?

Answer»

Hi, I just installed Windows 7, 32bit, on my computer and I do not have sound. I will be in brief and this is what I did as troubleshooting to know the issue, before posting on this forum:

-I already checked the volume.
-I DOWNLOADED and installed the latest driver on my motherboard's website (ASUS.
-I played a music and I saw it was playing but no sound.
-Speaker is my default sound device.

Help me! Thank1) Was this a reinstall of W7 or an upgrade? If an upgrade, are you CERTAIN your system is W7 compatible? If it was a reinstall, what was the REASON?

2) Please look in device manager. Are there any yellow or red symbols?
No yellowvor any sign on device manager. I formatted then installed. I mean it's a fresh installation. Again, why did you install - did you upgrade from a different OS or was there some problem with your previous Windows 7 installation?Well i installed because i wanted to use 7 on this computer. I had vista before. Then i formatted and installed 7 .What is the make and model of your computer? Did you check to see if your system is W7 compatible first? See these two links:

Also, you need Windows 7 drivers.Yes it is compatible the motherboard. It's ASUS P5KPL-CM. Yes I downloaded Windows 7 drivers. Are you sure the sound is not "muted" in Control Panel ? ?

Speakers plugged in properly ? ?It is not mute. Everything is connected properly. There are 2 AUDIO drivers for that MBoard for Win7...
Install both of them...Windows will ignore the one it doesn't need.

However i would DLoad and install the chipset driver 1st and re-boot as some onboard drivers are reliant on the correct chipset driver being in place and installed properly. When I installed both driver versions, they gave me the same problem message. Refer to the screenshot attached.

[recovering disk space, attachment deleted by admin]Did you try the Chipset driver 1st and reboot as suggested ? ?
It also looks like that driver is from VIA...not ASUS....that could be the issue as well.Yes i installed that chipset driver from asus website and rebooted since yesterday. And the VIA drivers are from the ASUS site ? ?
If so your sound chip is dead.Well all i know installed all drivers from ASUS sites. I didnt have any issue with the Vista. I want to give a try on VIA website but i dont know my VIA model.
