Solve : No sound when using internet - volume icon gone from task bar ??

Answer»

Hello,
I am using XP - for no apparent reason the volume icon has disappeared from the task bar and I do not get sound when using internet - such as BBC iPlayer. I do get sound from my music library and when using Skype calls.
Thanks for helping.
Try this

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/319095Thanks - will try it.
Don't forget to let us KNOW how it goes, even if it works!*censored* Red - I tried the support link but did not help. I checked driver and it said the driver is ok. I tried YOUTUBE ref the sound but no sound.
I got sound from the support video help.
It seems it is only a problem when use the web connections i/e no youtube sound and no BBC iplayer sound. all other sound links work - skype, playing a Cd etc.

This is a real mystery - do you have other suggestions.
thanks for helpingTake a look at this. Might have to dig a bit to uncover the answer. Can't say I understand it all.

I am at a loss - i have however downloaded a new driver from "Driver BOOST" but DONT know how to install it, it is in my download file but there is no install instructions, any help on this please. thanks
PS > what is the "censored" for Reddevil ??
Installing drivers from a third party site is never recommended. Have you checked your current sound setup in the device manager.

P.S What is censored ??I put hello Red at the beginning of my reply - the hello was replaced with the WORD "censored" ??
