Answer» It is an HP laptop. When started up and logged onto windows the taskbar and icons do not appear. Almost all files and applications in windows are excessible by going through the Task Manager. Has ANYBODY seen this before? Is there a way to fix it without having to RESET the entire system?Windows XP:
Press Control/Alt/Del to get to the Task Manager. Click on "New Task..." and type in "explorer" without quotes. If above remedy does not SOLVE your problem, you can do System Restore with the HELP of Task Manager. File> New Task (Run) > %SystemRoot%\system32\restore\rstrui.exe
This will help you to restore your system to previous state when it was ok.

Now ...
Start >. Run >> regedit >> navigate to
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\TaskManager
Now Delete Taskmanager
