Solve : Norton 2003?

Answer»

Hi
I have a problem, when i install Norton 2003, when i shut down my computer, i get a message and a screen that says program is ending and shuting down. I have uninstalled Norton and DONT get the message when i Restart, but as soon as i install it again i get the message. This is a new computer just built today, it has xp home and all the latest stuff PCIE ect. Do you think i need the latest Norton virus or is there somthing i can do about this.Norton SEEMS to be the problem then, so uninstall and avoid the current crop of Norton products. AVG is as good and is....free! (Plus it doesn't eat up your system resources.)If he just purchasd it, I doubt he's gonna wanna get rid of it just like that.

Before you shutdown, close down Norton and that should fix the problem (if I think I know what you're talking about). There's probably a proper fix somewhere, someone who uses it might be able to assist you.

Is this a virus program or a MALWARE addware program?. Doesnt seem to scan for viruses for me. Do you have a LINK for the virus program. and it says trial. Is it a trial.

Any help would be good.AVG Free is an Antivirus program and as the name suggests, it's free.

Scroll to almost the bottom of the page (they hide it)
http://free.grisoft.com/doc/1There is a 30-day trial for a fully-functional version of AVG. The freeware version has no limits.

The differences between the two can be found here. (PDF file, direct link)

with regardsCrafty...... The Norton 2003 you have is either a 45 or 90 day trial and I would suspect it has already run its course . thats the reason it wont scan for you .

I haven't used Norton in years, as it is too much trouble IMO....

Agreed!
Anything sold to Symantec is doomed!!
Peter Norton wrote some fantastic utilities. Symantec bought them, TURNED them into crap, and left his name attached to them. They have asassinated the man's good name.Quote

If he just purchased Norton 2003, then he's been had!

Crafty, I was at the Norton website yesterday looking for someone else, I notice there is a 'special' program or way to uninstall your Norton.
When you have it completely removed do a registry search for some key words... Norton, Symantec etc.
Norton is a virus for sure.
