Answer» Hi I have a problem, when i install Norton 2003, when i shut down my computer, i get a message and a screen that says program is ending and shuting down. I have uninstalled Norton and DONT get the message when i Restart, but as soon as i install it again i get the message. This is a new computer just built today, it has xp home and all the latest stuff PCIE ect. Do you think i need the latest Norton virus or is there somthing i can do about this.Norton SEEMS to be the problem then, so uninstall and avoid the current crop of Norton products. AVG is as good and is....free! (Plus it doesn't eat up your system resources.)If he just purchasd it, I doubt he's gonna wanna get rid of it just like that. Before you shutdown, close down Norton and that should fix the problem (if I think I know what you're talking about). When you have it completely removed do a registry search for some key words... Norton, Symantec etc. Norton is a virus for sure.

Before you shutdown, close down Norton and that should fix the problem (if I think I know what you're talking about). There's probably a proper fix somewhere, someone who uses it might be able to assist you.
