I've noticed that the list of past items in the Customize Notifications window has become a "mile" long from PROGRAMS that I've tried and then DELETED over time.  Does anyone know if there is a way to delete some of these from the list?  I use Windows XP with Service PACK 2.  Thank You!ccleaner removes a  lot  of stuff. www.ccleaner.com

I don't know what "customize notification window" is. Where is that located?Maybe it's not a "window".  I'm unsure of the technical term. It's the box that pops up when you right-click the Start button and choose Properties. It's the "window" that lets you choose to "always show; always hide" etc. the individual notification icons.   P.S.:  Thank you for the tip; I've been using ccleaner for quite some time now.Strart, Settings, Taskbar & Start Menu , Start Menu Programs and press Clear. Windows XP will show every program that has ever had an icon show up in the Notification Area where the clock is located.  You really don't have to delete them, as they are grouped as Recent and Past items.  The Recent items is the only group to which you really need to pay attention.

If you want to try to edit the Windows registry to remove these, let me know, but i would not recommend doing so unless you know what you are doing.
