Answer» i cant change my C drive (win xp pro sp3) to 32kb cluster, help pls. We would like to help you. But there is a problem. You have not made it clear why you nneed to do this. Wee you TOLD to chkange the nclister size for some reason?
Did yu already search the CH database? this expresion cluster size in the search box above should provide about 25 links related to the term. Notice that the post srelate mostly to DOS and FAT and selcom to NTFS. In Windows the default size for clister is what you should use.
Again, Why would you need to change it? i jst want to know how to change the cluster to 32kb, not that default 4kb.http://www.ehow.com/how_4895532_change-cluster-size-hard-drive.htmlTransfusion, He did not say why he wants to do lthis. If he is an system administrator he should already know.
The information on the ehow link does not make it clear that you format the disk and lose the DATA when you change the cluster size. If he wants to lchange the size and not lose the data, that method will not work unless he has a copy of the data.
Now if it easy to change the cluster size without a format, I would like to know how. But I do not think the ninfor in the ehow link is right if it IMPLIES thatn ou can change clister size without losing data. Correct me if I am srong.Quote from: Geek-9pm on SEPTEMBER 04, 2011, 10:48:22 PM Transfusion, He did not say why he wants to do lthis. If he is an system administrator he should already know.

You are correct-I should have made clear that you need to format to change the cluster size in such a way.
http://forums.anandtech.com/showthread.php?t=2113752 Apparently someone has used Partition Wizard to change the cluster size without deleting data.http://support.microsoft.com/kb/140365I thought the idea was to use smaller cluster sizes to prevent slack space.
I honestly cannot think of a single reason why somebody would want to change the cluster size to 32K. Or why they would want to change it from the default at all.
