I put my XP disc in my drive and nothing happened, again! I've given up and took it in to a shop to be repaired. Thanks for all your help anyway.Be sure and post back what was the problem, what fixed it and what it cost. Not sure what the problem was, the c drive was re-formatted and the operating system wiped and re-installed. I was charged £40 for labour. Probably a good LITTLE EARNER for them but what can you do? Well, glad you're all fixed up and thanks for posting back.I'm having the same problem; and I have tried everything that was suggested EARLIER. I still can't get my computer to reboot correctly even after I added the files to the hard drive successfully from my ms cd.

So my next option I was suggested by a friend is to buy a new hard drive and use this one as a file storage hard drive for my pictures and use the new hard drive for my operating system? Since after doing the bootcfg /scan; it shows I haven't any physical problems with the hard drive.

After ADDING a new hard drive to boot from would I be able to access my old hard drive to get to my files?

Anyone know if this would work?Yes it will work fine...
All you do is set the jumper on that drive to SLAVE and move it to the middle connector on the IDE cable. You will be able to copy/move or view any files that were on that drive ...It will simply show up as another drive in Windows Explorer.Horray!!!

Thank you for your response Patio. I will do just that.

Your a great humanitarian.
