Answer» Quote from: Dusty on September 07, 2009, 05:03:26 AM Defrag is not supported in Recovery Console and it's not good practice to try to defrag a corrupt partition. unfortunately still not getting anywhere. I made a bootable Cd of the file suggested and booted from that. The following came up on the screen 1. FD 2.88MB SYSTEM Type-(00) NTLDR is missing Press Ctrl + Alt + Del to restart Anyone got any IDEAS ? ThanksAt this point you might be better off formatting your hard drive and doing a clean install of windows. You can SAVE your data by slaving that drive in another working computer. http://www.dtidata.com/resourcecenter/2007/04/23/how-to-slave-hard-drive/thanks for that, I think that is my best option. I know of quite a few errors with that computer and formatting hard drive and clean install of windows should GIVE me a stable system again. i did back up last month so the data should be retriveable from my external Hard drive? Be sure to check your backup is actually on your your external hard drive before you start the reformat.......so many people backup their importantant data and assume it has been backed up when it hasn't.......just a heads up......Yeah, I've got there. Windows is back up and running Thank you to everyone on this forum for their help. Turns out I still wasn't getting the right drive letter, ussd the map command and all is now OK, but I think I have some cleaning up to doCongrats Sally, thanks for coming back to report your success..
