Answer» I have a Compaq quick restore disk. I used it successfully on the teen's Compaq. Two QUESTIONS: Can I use it on a different Compaq pc? and What happens if I use it on a no brand pc? All the MACHINES have win98. The restore disk has win98. I have two machines that are in need of fresh air. I do not have much to lose by trying this. I have no other win98 disk, other than buying one.I DOUBT it will work on another machine. I have never seen a Compaq restore CD that did. You can try it, but don't be surprised if no JOY. That's how they PROTECT piracy of Windows operating systems, which is pretty much what you're planning.I thought the license allowed personal use.
