Solve : old ways of locking files?

Answer»

many years ago I remember being able to lock files with a dos COMMAND at the c: prompt.

haven't had much need until now to lock them.

does anyone remember how?  You could make them Read-Only or Hidden (or system or archive) by using this code in Command Prompt:

+R = Read-Only
+H = Hidden
+S = System
+A = Archive
Code: [Select]attrib +(insert option here) "C:\(file path)"

Then again, that's pretty basic. But what do you mean locking anyway?I think, he means LIKE assign it a PASSWORD. I remember being able to do so on win98 i believe but havnt seen nor heard of anyone doing it for a while.

If anyone ahs an answer on how to password protect files on a computer (especcially for on Vista) pm me please. Quote from: lil_falco on MAY 01, 2007, 12:04:18 PM
