Solve : Only AOL browser is loading pages?

Answer»

I'm using XP Home edition. After a lightning storm (coincidence or not I don't know), neither IE or Firefox will load anything at all (page not found), but AOL explorer is going full speed. What can this be? I ran Spybot and MCafee, reformatted just 3 weeks ago...What could it be?Hmmmm....have you downloaded any new programs recently from when it worked fine to this point?Nope, no new programs...tried system restore to a previous date....and about 4 VIRUS scans...I reformatted just a few weeks ago too, everything was fine.

I can say that when I run a test on speedtest.net that the "ms ping" is around the 150's as OPPOSED to the usual 40's-60's before, and the download speed just rapidly goes by in a shakey, unusual WAY, thought it still SHOWS a good 9 out of 10 megs, which isn't full speed but still..what are you trying to download that its running at that speed? are you using any P2P programs?try resetting internet explorer (if you're using IE7 .... ask someone else if you're using ie6.) and make a new profile for firefox.

You lose all your bookmarks/favorites and settings so BACKUP first if you want to save them beforehand.

Not true.
For info about IE reset, read here: http://blogs.msdn.com/ie/archive/2006/06/12/628499.aspxSome more info on the hardware involved and how you are networked would also be very helpful diagnosing a connectivity issue.Quote from: Broni on July 07, 2008, 05:25:08 PM

Well, everytime I resetted ie7, all my favorites got erased and default links from microsoft were back.Well, since I don't use IE, it looks like real life, is, as often it is, different from what M$ tells you.
mcxeb52!
Thanks for real life update.M$ tries to be the big brother too many times. Anyhow, should IE get a new facelift? I'm not too fond of IE's look. When I was using Carbon Dioxide, I was on one of my grandparent's laptop and it had IE7.
Surprisingly, I didn't kill myself.....But I was close....
