Solve : Optimizing My System's Proformance?

Answer»

Hi, I'm using a Gateway Laptop with Windows Media Center Edition, 512 of ram, 2.2 ghz AMD Processor, and ATI Radeon Xpress CARDS. I want to know how I can OPTIMIZE my system. So far I have:

1. I have a decent firewall + virus scanner (Both McAfee).
2. I scan for spyware daily with two different scanners.
3. Use System Mechanic and Tune Up Utilities to optimize system proformance.
4. Removed unneeded visual stuff + LOTS of registry tweaks
5. TCP Optimizer to make my high speed internet very fast.
6. Remove unneeded windows services + programs

Is there anything else I can do ? Overclock my processor ? Use any other programs ?

Another Thing: System Idle Process says to be using 95-99 % of my processor but the light is not blinking...what should I do about it ?

Thanks I think that's as fast as you're going to get, hopefully with no spyware/adware SLOWING things down. McAfee takes up some resources, though not as much as Norton.

You are not going to be able to overclock a Gateway, and certainly not a laptop. Who put that notion in your mind? Quote

Nothing.  That's good.  System Idle Process is just there to make the total come to 100%.  So, if System Idle Process shows 99%, that means other processes are only using 1%.

Ok, thanks. I thought I had a problem. Now I understand
