|
Answer» ok i have asked many ppl about this and have not gotten a clear answer. when i shut my computer down or restart my OS deletes itself and i have to reload everything. its GETTING to be a pain and i WOULD really like to figure it out. thanks. What are your computer specs? Quote and i have to reload everything Reload from what? Where did the media come from? Is this a recovery disk or a shiny hologram FILLED disk from Microsoft. As previously mentioned your system specs would help along with your OPERATING system. Seriously, I would need more info too, try and let us know what OS you are using, and what the size of your HARD drive and ram is... not in inches but in Megabytes (MB) and Gigabytes(GB)... Cheers my OS is vista but has been doing this before i put vista on, i have a 150 gb hard drive and 512 ram my processor AMD Athlon 64 processor 3800+ 2.40 GHz and its a 32 bit operating system if you need more let me know Please tell us what happens in detail when you shut your machine down. Does it shut down normally? When you start your machine do you have anything in the CD or DVD drive? What do you see on the screen when you start your machine? well if i shut it down any way, restart it or otherwise it normally shuts down like it should. when i turn it back on i get a black screen saying missing operating system. doesnt change if i have anything in the drive aswellComputer under warranty?no Go to your hard drive manufacturer web site, and download free diagnostic tool. I suspect, there is something wrong with your HD. Quote from: Broni on May 29, 2008, 09:25:52 PM I suspect, there is something wrong with your HD. Definitely agree with Broni on this. Sounds like the MBR (Master Boot Record) can't be read or is getting lost.Do you know the make and model of your hard drive? Also do you have more than one hard drive in the machine? |
