Answer» I have a 30MB folder of e-mails called Work.dbx, and I want to move it to another computer so that OE will recognize it and I’ll have access to the messages. When I simply copy it to the place where OE's folders are stored (Local Settings / Application Data / IDENTITIES, ETC.), it doesn't SHOW up in OE. So I renamed Folders.dbx to let OE create a new Folders file, which it did. Now a newly created "Work(1).dbx" folder shows up, which is empty.
Any suggestions? (I have only one identity in OE, by the way.)See if you can re trace your steps and put it BACK the way it was. There is a proper way to move stuff in OE. You have to do it from inside OE.
This also applies to other programs as well. Do not use the Windows EXPLORER to move components that are registered by programs. By default the internal directories are hidden. For a reason.
[regaining space - attachment deleted by admin]Retracing my steps is, unfortunately, not an option here. Would be grateful if any one else has some practical advice to offer.I don't use OE much but i know there is an Import/Export function...did you try this ?PATIO: yes, I did. Unfortunately, when I try to use the import function, I get an error message that there are no messages at that location. I've tried copying the .dbx folder to various places and then browsing to them (as part of the import process), but it never seems to work.
