Answer» I'm running vista at the mo and just WONDERED if anyone could advice me on what my PAGING SIZE should be. I have 1GB of memory in total on my lappy. PHYSICAL MEM Total 952 Cachd 516 Free 21
KERNEL MEM Total 134 Paged 96 Non Paged 37
I dont use my lappy for anything excessive, only for browsing and downloading. Any suggestions. There have been MANY theories on the best size to set your paging file over the years, the most popular probably being 1.5x your physical RAM (so 1.5GB in your case.) To be honest though, Vista is probably better at managing page file size than any person, so I suggest leaving vista to automatically manage your page file. Some people do prefer to have a set size, more to reduce disk fragmentation than to increase performance. In which case you can either go with the 1.5x theory or use window's built-in performace logs to find out how large a page-file windows is typically using and set the static size to a bit larger than that.Agreed. Just leave it as Windows Managed.
