Answer» i wonder is it possible for me to GET computer information like:
1- how old my computer.(when the motherboard d.o.b )
2- how old my hard disk drive.
3-how old my RAM.
4-processor age.
and other details that may help me...
because currently i want to buy secondhand computer, just wondering their expired date...I'm totally cannot trust salesman...
please don't hesitate share ur knowledge with me....
You could check the date of the BIOS but this can also be changed: something like rolling back the odometer. You could also google the type of CPU. This could possibly give you a ball-park figure. The OS MIGHT also give you a clue but this could also have up-dated.So this is a PC you can't download things on, then?
Best to Google the part numbers of things then really...ask him/her to open the case, and jot down all the details and digits you can. This can't be done that i know of...
If this involves buying a second hand machine the best you can do is RESEARCH the components for their market life-span...IE: The CPU will have been available from:____to: MBoard Vid card
Hard drives have much longer spans so don't waste time on them.
Of course even with the above supplied info you still have no idea how many miles are on it or what it was used for.
Best thing to do would be to post the complete specs and the asking price and we can advise further...IF YOUR POTENTIAL SALESMAN CAN CONNECT IT TO THE WEB AT HIS PLACE OF BUSINESS...........DOWNLOAD BELARC ADVISOR AND IT WILL SCAN THE SYSTEM AND GIVE YOU ALL OF THE STATS AND SOFTWARE LOGISTICS, INCLUDING INSTALLATION KEY CODES; AND DO ALL OF THIS WITHIN A COUPLE OF MINUTES. IF YOUR SALESMAN IS "UP TO PAR" HE OR SHE WILL NOT MIND DOING THIS. AFTER ALL IT WILL HELP MAKE THE SALE, IF THEY ARE LEGIT.............INCIDENTLY, BELARC ADVISOR IS FREE DOWNLOAD BY THE WAY, IF THE USED SYSTEM IS OVER A COUPLE OF HUNDRED BUCKS, IT'S USUALLY NOT WORTH IT ( I SELL A NEW SYSTEM WITH AMD OR INTEL / 80GB HDD / 1GB MEMORY WITHOUT A MONITOR FOR JUST UNDER $350 ----INCLUDING ONE YEAR PARTS AND LABOR WARRANTY) OF COURSE THIS IS NOT A "GAMER" BUT IT WILL PERFORM MORE THAN ENOUGH FOR 95% OF WHAT THE AVERAGE USER WILL EVER NEED. REMEMBER A CHEVY WILL TAKE YOU TO WORK, JUST LIKE A LEXUS WILL...AND YOU WILL FEEL BETTER ABOUT WHAT YOU PAID FOR THE CHEVY i strongly suggest a new keyboard gator, as the one you are currently using appears to have a malfunctioning caps-lock key.Quote from: homer on December 28, 2007, 02:43:36 AM i strongly suggest a new keyboard gator, as the one you are currently using appears to have a malfunctioning caps-lock key.
Best caps-lock response, ever.Quote from: Sid on December 28, 2007, 04:33:09 AMQuote from: homer on December 28, 2007, 02:43:36 AMi strongly suggest a new keyboard gator, as the one you are currently using appears to have a malfunctioning caps-lock key.

Cap locks, huh ? I thought we were supposed to quit ACTING like that in the second grade. It's a shot in the dark, but you might try looking at the individual pieces if it's a custom built machine. Some hard drives have their date of manufacture printed on the the label, other parts (like RAM) might have warranty stickers on them that could indicate more or less how old they are.
