I have situation, i have a pc installed with xp OS and it wont boot at all. It gives an error in dos that some system32 file is missing which my OS is corrupted.
NB: can i repair my OS with a different disk and with out loosing my FILES and documents.
Please i need someone sure about this since i dont have two pc to back up my files....Sow you can get trough the BIOS? Did you try booting in safe mode? What error do you get?
Jonas I didnt try in safe mode. the pc loads well and it prompts me to PRESS f1 to continue and then it give an options to choose from, like which login should it use. for e.g login normal or last good configarations i tried all options but then it gives an error file missing in program files/system/system32---its not loading widows xp at all-- i for got the name of the file. all i want to do is repair the operating system, question is: if i do so will this delete my files?
So i need someone to be sure so that i'll do this tonight at home.....
Thanks dudeshi...
try to find master boot in internet...
then try to use system restore....
note: if you can use SAFEMODE...use system restore...just try to remember how many days the problem exists...ok
hope it helps Use System Restore feature to sort out your problem. Guys if he can't boot he can't use system restore. The easyest thing you can do is creating a boot disk. An other thing if you're using a normal PC you can slave your HDD to an other PC. From there you can get your docs and after that you can REFORMAT and reinstall XP. Next you can put your docs back.
Jonas Jonas thanks and all other guys..
I got it WORKING, all you do is install new os but leave the current files intouch. it wont delete anything..
