Answer»

hello,
ok so here goes, i made a bootdisc from the packard bell website a bit ago and ran it cos i needed to get my system back to default, prob was at the end of boot when it was installing programs it was crashing. i later found that i had downloaded the wrong boot disc. now my computer does work but LIKE internet explorer does not work and some other programms.(i use firefox now). when i boot my pc i know u can press f11 and do a rebbot from there but this option is not available on my pc. anyways i have been LOOKING for a boot disc for my pc or some way of GETTING it back to its old state.
product info:
packard bell utow-sun
serial num:049060420455
imedia 1618/n

spec:
windows xp home PENT 4
1gb ram
3.06 ghz

i know this is a random request but just wanted to know if there is anything i can do other than taking it somewhere and getting the whole thing wiped off and windows reinstalled costing me alot of money.

hope you can help.tnx

If the machine has a Product Key you can track down an XP Home edition CD and do a re-install...
This is perfectly legal.
You MAY have to re-activate at MS after the install.

NOTE: It should be a MS XP CD...not Dell; HP or other...
NOTE 2: The version must match whats installed.unfortunatly i have no product key for windows as it was installed when bought and have no windows cd.unless there is a way of getting the product number of my pc somewhere? Then check the Packard Bell website for info on re-installing from the hidden partition on your machine....
This is how their built if you did NOT recieve a CD with the machine.thats where my main problem is i use to have that option when i boot up my pc, i dont have that aoption anymore and i dont know why, there is no option to reboot.i dont know what ive done, but it looks bad.Quote from: patio on January 09, 2011, 07:09:29 AM
