When XP home edition was installed , printer and speakers went off automatically upon computer shutdown. After a reinstallation they no longer do, but have to be turned off manually. What's the solution?   Tks.  :Claire Gardinier.....Usually the printer and the speakers.....are powered from an OUTSIDE scource. There is a LOW voltage power supply which is probably plugged into a power bar....It is normal , if the speakers and the printer are both turned on ....that when the pc is shut down normally , you would have to manually TURN off the power button on the speakers as well as the power button on the printer......
If you had a large ENOUGH capacity aux. power outlet on the rear of your pc......which would handle all your periphials then one could plug the power bar into that and then plug all the periphials in .......When the pc was shut down all would be shut down ......

dl65  The printer may have an ACPI extension that you would have to set in your printer properties to respond to the PC being shut off.

You can control speakers by adding a 12V relay box aith a plug and outlet. When the 12V is on it would close the relay contact and power the speakers... But from your description htey may also have an ACPI feature. Look at the audio device properties...
