Solve : pian in the *censored* laptop?

Answer» HI guys, please can some ONE help me, i bought  my laptop fujitsu siemens Amilo 3438G, since upgrading my memory from 1 gig to the max 2gig, the thing keeps freezing, especially when im converting a dvd or downloading tunes etc, i have tryed puting it back to 1 gig, still the same thing happens, i have tryed each mem module seprately, thinking it was a fulty one , still happens, the only time it doesnt do it (which i have just discovered) is when i press the fan speed button, which in turn slows everything down,ie graphics card fan etc,( nvidia Geforce Go 6800, 256mb)
i have even reloaded windows with a clean install, and downloaded the most up to date drivers i could find, but nothing works, iv had no responce from the fsc forum,
hope you guys can help, plaesa feel free to email me with help,
thanks in advance,
society Dweeller :-/Did you take precautions against ESD?Hi Raptor thanks for pespond, please excuse imy ignorance, but what is ESD,
i know nothing about computers,
regardsElectro-static discharge.

Did you install the RAM yourself and if so, did you ground yourself before touching the RAM or did you perhaps touch the RAM connectors? And it was totally fine until you attempted this upgrade?hi gx1 man and raptor, yes i did the upgrade myself, and i made sure i grounded myself, and was very careful not to touch the ram,, the only problem i had before the upgrade was sometimes the sound card would make a brr noise and i would have to switch off to stop it, but that hasnt happened since i upgraded the ram,
surly if i had shorted it something out it wouldnt work at all, it doesnt freeze when i press the whisper button, which slows the fan down and i assume the graphics card,
back to you guysWhat is a 'whisper' button?Hi Raptor, the whisper button is a button to enable me to switch it on to slent mode, according to to the HAND book the cpu and graphics don operate at full power, basicaly everything slows down,
thanks raptorAnd when you press this 'whisper' button the computer does not crash, correct?

Perhaps your BIOS is IMPROPERLY CONFIGURED or one of the fans has failed/is failing.ok thanks will investigate, and get back to you,
