Solve : pirated copy of windows 7?

Answer»

My grandson loaded a pirated copy of windows 7 on his computer. I know that to remove it I must reinstall Vista. I have purchased a legal copy of windows 7 so can I just reibstall that or must I do Vista first. He has been grounded from his pc for 2 weeks. If you want to uninstall the old version just boot to the new Windows disc and choose the option to format before installing. No need to install Vista.Agreed.
Make sure to have all your drivers lined up ahead of time...

You couldn't leave well enough alone? Sorry...my parental instincts got the best of me...sheesh He is ALSO grounded for 2 weeks. This may not be the forum but I have a QUESTION. I asked him where he got the pirated copy and he told me a kid at school downloaded it from the internet and made him a copy. Where do they find this tuff on the internet and how do people get away with doing things like that?As soon as anything hits the street (sometimes before), the pirates have it posted on the internet.

Microsoft and other copyright holders are very aggressive about removing these sites, but they proliferate on foreign SERVERS and P2P networks.

They are very dangerous because besides the "attractive" software, they often include a little present in the form of a virus or trojan. If it was safe, you could have just changed your product key, but because it is not safe, you were advised to do a clean format of your computer.
